Este premio es de especial significancia para mí porque yo he usado Khan Academy muchísimo este año para complementar el material que estudio en la universidad. Salman Khan tiene un dón especial para explicar las cosas de una manera que todo el mundo entiende.
Salman comenzó en el 2004 a darle tutorías remotas a unos parientes adolescentes y al día de hoy ya ha creado cerca de 2000 cursos cortos (10 minutos) en materias que ván desde matemática, química y biología, hasta banca e inversiones. El individuo es ciertamente un genio que sabe transmitir el conocimiento y ya antes había recibido reconocimiento del Microsoft Tech Award, aparte de ser reseñado por CNN, PBS Newshour y National Public Radio.
Salman dejó un empleo altamente remunerado en Septiembre del 2009 para dedicarse a su pasión de educar al mundo, y estuvo financiando su proyecto con sus propios ahorros hasta Mayo de 2010 cuando recibió algunos donaticos 'significativos' . Este nuevo premio le permitirá financiar su esfuerzo por mas tiempo además de contratar traductores para llevar su mensaje a otros idiomas. Esperemos que pronto comenzemos a ver cursos en español.

Este pasado 1 de Septiembre Dashway Technologies en esfuerzo conjunto con John Dewey College recinto de Fajardo ofrecio el seminario “Moodle como herramienta de aprendizaje” en el cual sus participantes aprendieron sobre Moodle y sus multiples modulos.
Estudiantes y profesores asitieron al seminario ofrecido en el centro de computos de JDC Fajardo con computadoras, aire acondicionado, acceso a Internet, etc.
Este seminario es un primer paso para la implementacion de Moodle como programa piloto en JDC Fajardo. El seminario consto de 3 horas contacto e incluyo teoría y práctica de la herramienta.

La combinacion de Google y codigo abierto es mortal “para la competencia”. Android se basa en kernel de Linux y ha sido desarrollado por Google y Open Handset Alliance. Google anuncio que ya han liberado el 100% del código fuente de Android. En el sitio de Android encontraran una enorme cantidad de código y instrucciones de los requerimientos, compilacion e instalacion.
If you buy or reinstall a new PC, you want it to be productive right now. In addition to the OS, you want a basic tool-set of low cost applications and no-compromises. This entry is the first of a series of articles on which we aim to offer application tool-sets tailored for specific needs.
This first entry focuses on 'core' applications used in general by most consumer and small business users. Please visit us again for other interesting editions.
- Office Suite - We had already commented on the word processors on a previous article, but we cannot mention core applications without covering and office suite. If you want the leading edge technology, we recommend OpenOffice (Windows, Mac, Linux). However, if the potential of corporate backed support is important for you, then you should look to IBM's Lotus Symphony (Windows, Mac, Linux). Notice that in both applications we recommend using the word processor, spreadsheet and presentations applications only. The Drawing application is not to the level of specialized tools.
- Images - Use Irfanview (Windows only) for simple image viewing, cropping, reizing and image format conversion (90% of what we do with an image is one of these). Together with the Plugins, it can read and convert to almost every image format under the sun. You might want to use Aviary Phoenix (Windows, Mac, Linux) for actual image editing. Notice that Aviary Phoenix is a web application. However, we are including it here because no other free desktop application provides this type of simple and powerful editing.

Escribiendo esto se me paran los pelos. Este articulo en español es dedicado a un nuevo concepto llamado realidad aumentada. La realidad aumentada consiste en un conjunto de dispositivos que añaden información virtual a la información física ya existente. Esta es la principal diferencia con la realidad virtual, puesto que no sustituye la realidad física, sino que sobreimprime los datos informáticos al mundo real. Los dispositivos de Realidad aumentada normalmente constan de un "headset" y un sistema de display para mostrar al usuario la información virtual que se añade a la real. El "headset" lleva incorporado sistemas de GPS, necesarios para poder localizar con precisión la situación del usuario. También incluye sistemas inerciales y ópticos que son capaces de medir características como son la aceleración, la orientación y el ángulo de inclinación. Los dos principales sistemas de "displays" empleados son la pantalla óptica transparente (Optical See-through Display) y la pantalla de mezcla de imágenes (Video-mixed Display). Tanto uno como el otro usan imágenes virtuales que se muestran al usuario mezcladas con la realidad proyectada en la pantalla.
